career in engineering are constantly bothered by the notion that engineering is
a tough subject. Caught between their ambitions and the constant fear of not

the merit of the college they join. An engineering college has a major role to
play in molding a student and honing his/her skills and knowledge. Thus, it is essential
that students pay close attention when choosing colleges to pursue engineering.
Various factors students
must keep in mind when choosing an engineering college:
The Infrastructure: Among the most important factors
while opting for an engineering college is its infrastructure. Make sure that the
equipments in the laboratories are sufficient. They must be up to date and the
number of equipments must be adequate for the number of students in the class.
Faculty: Any engineering college relies on its faculty for producing successful students. The infrastructure can be used productively only with faculty members who are experienced and are always updating themselves with the changes taking place in the engineering field.
Facilities: Imperative features of a good
engineering college include a well stocked library with up-to-date books and
journals, uninterrupted internet access, hostels, student clubs, etc.
Placements: A guaranteed placement engineering college can be assessed for its merits by the number of activities/ programmes it conducts. These could include job fairs, tie-ups with industries, memorandum of understanding (MoU) with companies, skill development courses etc. See to it that the college has a dedicated placement and career development cell.
Having gone through all the criteria, choose the ones that strike you most and give you the belief that they will truly help you attain your goals. Once you narrow down your list of colleges, visit them. Go to the college, talk to the students and professors. Get a good feel of the college and see if it is the place for you.
