Blood Donation Camp

Alpha College of Engineering and Urban Public Health Center, Thirumazhisai jointly organised the “Blood Donation Camp” on 2nd September 2016 in the college campus. Totally 119 students and 5 faculty members donated blood in this camp.

National Level Technical Symposium “BIOENSY”

The department of Biomedical Engineering organised a National Level Technical Symposium “BIOENSY” on 23rd September 2016. The Chief-Guest was Dr. S. Mathavan, Ph.D, F.N.A.Sc. Chief Scientist & Senior Professor, HOD, SN ONGC. Deptartment of Genetics & Molecular Biology, Vision Research Foundation, Sankaranethralaya.

“NIZHAL”, a Sapling Planting Program

The NSS Team and Rotary Club of Chennai Galaxy jointly organised “NIZHAL”, a sapling planting program in the college campus on 2nd October 2016. Around 160 saplings were donated by the trust.

ALPHA INTER SCHOOL THROW BALL TOURNAMENT

Alpha Group of Institutions has successfully entered, its 50th year of excellence in education. To commemorate this, Alpha College of Engineering, organized “ALPHA INTER SCHOOL THROW BALL TOURNAMENT’ on 19thJanuary 2017. Vellammal Matriculation Hr. Sec School won the tournament trophy. D.A.V Matriculation Hr. Sec School won the Runners-up trophy.

68th Republic Day Celebration

The 68th Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January 2017 in the college premises. Dr. Anita Titus, Principal hoisted the national flag and took the pledge.

National Level Technical Symposium “WARTECH 2K17”

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organised a National Level Technical Symposium “WARTECH 2K17” on 10th February 2017. Mr. M. Rajendran, CEO of Kaavian systems Pvt. Ltd was the Chief-Guest.

National Level Technical symposium “IMPACT 2K17”

The Department of Information Technology organised a National Level Technical symposium “IMPACT 2K17” on 2nd March 2017. The Chief-Guest Mr. M. Srinivasan, CTO of Ethna Attributes Soft Technologies Pvt Ltd, released the souvenir of the symposium.

National Level Symposium “Electromania 2K17”

On 3rd March 2017, “ELECTROMANIA 2K17” a National Level Symposium was organized by the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The Chief-Guest Mr. G. Venkatesh, AGM, ICT Academy, released the souvenir of the symposium.

National Conference on Scientific Research and Development

On 24th March 2017, a National Conference on Scientific Research and Development organized by Bio Medical and Engineering was inaugurated by the Chief-Guest, Dr. Arun K Thittai, Associate Professor, Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT, Madras, Chennai at Alpha College of Engineering.

ICT Academy - Centre of Academic Excellence Inauguration

On 23rd January 2017, Alpha College of Engineering inaugurated the “Data Science and Big Data Analytics and Design Academy Autodesk” Centre of Academic Excellence in collaboration with ICT Academy. The Chief-Guest, Mr. Anbu Thambi, Vice President, ICT Academy and Mr. Vishnu Prasad, co-ordinator, ICT Academy graced the occasion.

Faculty Development Program

Alpha College of Engineering organized a Faculty Development Program on “TECHNOLOGY FOR MANAGEMENT TEACHING AND RESEARCH”, on 6th July 2017. Dr. Giridharan, Prof and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering showed the audience how to use demonstration as a pedagogical tool for enhancing effective teaching experience. Mr. Satheesh Kumar, Founder & Director of ACTIVE FOUNDATION, elaborated on class room teaching and technology in education. Ms. S. Hemalatha, Asst. Prof, Hindustan University spoke on how teachers can leverage on using III to enhance their class teaching.

Faculty Development Program

Alpha College of Engineering organized a Faculty Development Program on “Devices for Sustaining Human Life” from 20th to 22nd June 2017. Speakers from various colleges presented on Fundamentals of Human physiology, Advancement in Biomedical instrumentation, Recent Research on Biomaterials, Dynamics in Body Fluids (Biomechanics) and Life Saving Equipment.

Parents Teachers Association Meeting 2017-2018

Alpha College of Engineering conducted Parents Teachers Association meeting for the academic year 2017-2018 on 17th June 2017 at the college auditorium. Dr. B.Sowmya, Principal welcomed the gathering and gave a short exhortation to the congregation. In her speech, she stressed on the importance of developing communication skills and updating with current affairs in their technical field.

Third International Yoga Day Celebration

Alpha College of Engineering, Chennai celebrated Yoga Day on 21st June 2017 at New Seminar Hall to commemorate the Third International Yoga Day. Two volunteers from “Isha (Jaggi Vasudev) Foundation” presented an expertise lecture through demonstration videos, with an objective to heighten self-awareness through yoga and discover the sense of oneness, amongst us.

Faculty Development Program

Alpha College of Engineering organized a Two-day Faculty Development program on 8th and 9th of May 2017. The event focused on the topic “Creative Thinking.” Mr. K.Nirmal Kumar Manager soft skill, ICT Academy was the session speaker.

College Day 2017

College Day was celebrated on 25th March 2017. Mr. Manish Goyal, CAO & Corporate Controller, Renault Nissan India was the Chief-Guest. The principal Dr. Anita Titus, Chairperson, Seva Ratna Dr. (Mrs.) Grace George and Vice-Chairperson, Mrs. Suja George graced the occasion. Various cultural events were conducted and prizes were distributed.

Placement Day - 2017

The Career Development Cell (CDC) of Alpha College of Engineering, celebrated “Placement Day - 2017” on 7th April 2017, on the eve of achieving 100% placements in all the UG and PG Departments – MBA, ME (CSE), BME, CSE, ECE, IT and MECH. Some of the star recruiters included – Enchanter Corporation, IBM, Motorola, IDBI Federal Ltd; Boston, Sutherland Global solutions Ltd, Bharathi Airtel, Global Auto Components, Tech Mahindra, Eureka Forbes, CADD Center, etc. The Chief-Guest Mr. Gowri Raman, Assistant General Manager-Corporate HR, Hinduja Foundries Ltd congratulated the CDC Team, students and parents.

ALPHA BEQUIZ -National Level Business Quiz Contest

The Department of Management Studies, has organized a one day National Level Business Quiz Contest, “ALPHA BEQUIZ” on 9th Match 2018. The program aimed at bringing out the thirst for knowledge and competitive spirit among the Students, both of which are very much essential for career planning, Competitive examinations, Higher studies, Placements or Entrepreneurship. The contest was well participated by 110 students from several colleges. Mr. Hanumantha Rao, Branch Manager, and Mr. Bharath.C.Jain, Executive Editor, from TIME Pvt Ltd conducted the Quiz program.

New India Student Championship 2018- Learnathon

New India Student Championship 2018 is first of its kind initiative powered by Salesforce and organized by ICT Academy- The largest Learnathon in India. The aim of this championship was to inculcate self-learning among students. The event was held from 2nd February 2018 to 3rd February 2018 for 24 hrs. Around 10,000 students from 100+ colleges participated in this event, from across the nation. 100 students from Alpha College of Engineering participated in this national event and won prizes.

Campus Connect by DT Next

Alpha Group in collaboration with DT Next – a new generation English newspaper organized, “Campus Connect” a lecture series on "Life Skills", exclusively for the students of Alpha College of Engineering, Chennai. Dr. Subrami Ramakrishnan (Associate Partner, Location Executive) from IBM Chennai, addressed the gathering and spoke on how to develop life skills in everyday life.

Hands on training in ARDUINO based system design

Alpha College of Engineering, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering had successfully conducted hands on training in ARDUINO based system design on the 25th of September from 9am to 2pm. The training was conducted by Mr. Ekambaram .N.N and Mr. Suriyanarayanan .A with participation of over 70 students and 9 faculties.

Power 2K17 National Conclave

Alpha College of Engineering, Chennai,organised a one day National Conclave “POWER 2K17 – Perspectives on Women Empowerment Revisited”, on 7th October 2017. Mrs. G.T.Ambika, District Judge, Poonamallee, was the Chief Guest for the program. The program was presided over by Mrs. Suja George, Vice Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions.

HAPE Info Solutions Pvt Ltd- Placement Drive

Alpha College of Engineering organized an “On Campus Placement Drive” for the BE/B.Tech- CSE, ECE & IT final year students on 26th September 2017. HAPE Info Solutions Private Limited, an Indian Based Company for Mobile Application Development conducted the drive and many students were placed.

7th Graduation Day

Alpha College of Engineering, Chennai, celebrated its 7th“GRADUATION DAY” for the 2012-16 Batch UG and PG students on 2nd September 2017. Dr.J. Kumar, Director, Planning and Development, Anna University was the Chief Guest for the program. The program was presided over by Seva Ratna Dr. Mrs. Grace George, Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions and Mrs. Suja George, Vice Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions. All the UG (BME / CSE / ECE / IT/ MECH and PG (MBA / ME –CSE) students have participated in the program and received their degree certificates from the Chief Guest and Principal, ACE.

12th INDUCTION DAY

Alpha College of Engineering, Chennai, celebrated its 12th INDUCTION DAY for the first year UG and PG students on 21 st August 2017, at 10 am. Pastor Bro. Gabriel Thomasraj was the Chief Guest for the program. The program was presided over by Dr.Mrs. Seva Ratna Grace George, Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions and Mrs. Suja George, Vice Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions. The UG and PG students admitted for the academic year 2017-18 have attended the program along with their respective parents.

Techfest 2K17

Alpha Group of Institutions is celebrating its Golden Jubilee year. On occasion of the celebration, Alpha College of Engineering has organized a 2 day Tech-Fest for innovative product designs, “TIDE 2017” on 27th and 28th July 2017 for school students. Around 2000 students from 50 schools have participated in the various competitions held, both technical and non-technical, such as Natyanjali (Dance), Geetanjali (Singing), Eureka (Innovative Project exhibition), Rainbow or Kaleidoscope (Poster Painting & Poster making), Thoughts of fire (Tamil & English Essay Writing), Create Apps (Workshops on Mobile application development), Sci Act (Workshops on innovative learning methodology of science and Demonstrations) and other surprise events.
